My 3 year old nephew had surgery last week. They went in an re-did his tubes in his ears. Also they had to remove his adenoids. They were very infected. Whenever they did the culture of the adenoids they found staph infection. They put him on some antibotics and he has to stay out of daycare for the rest of the week. He is doing find now he just has a little bit of a runny nose. How do we know if he still has staph? How contagious is this kind of staph infection? Should the people he is around get checked for it?

The lady who lives next door to me has 2 children. They are twins in 1st grade. Her husband recently molested her daughter(he is not the childrens father). Well he moved out about 2 months ago. She has moved a new man in who is a registered sex offender. I approached her with my concern and to let her know that i know. She told me she knew and that she was a better Christian than I was. She does not judge people for their past. I didn't think that offenders were aloud to be around children or schools. Or for that matter anywhere that children are. Am i wrong? I know i am not wrong for my concern over the children or the other children on my block. What are the laws on this. I live in the state of Kansas Thank you for your time

My daughter is very anxious about leaving us (her parents) and constantly worries about what time we will pick her up after school. She lets little things consume her and usually ends up crying. We have tried a variety of things, such as naming her worries-"silly willy worries" and talking about how it is okay to feel a bit nervous but ways she can deal with it. She understands that we won't forget her at school but she still worries about it. We try to have her tell us about her day as the worried girl and then as a relaxed girl. (using different terms). We encourage her to use words to explain emotions and not keep them inside. She worries about things adults should be thinking about, instead of relaxing and having fun at school. If we are in a new environment, and we (parents) are not there, she is very nervous. We feel that her anxiety is more than the average worries, and we just don't know what to do. She is a very smart girl, does really well in school, plays soccer and loves it. She will also worry about things such as, her math being too easy and what should she do when she finishes early. We have communicated with her teacher, and encouraged our daughter to talk to her teacher and ask if she can read a book or help other students. We really want to help her learn to deal with her worries and not let this get worse. Any suggestions or resources that you recommend. ???

A am interested in doing some service projects with my school age and younger kids this fall. Any one have neat ideas for things we could do over a weekend that would teach my kids the value of service and gratitude for what they have (which is a lot!)? Thanks for brainstorming ideas.
