Sex Offender's rights
Posted by: Michelle Peacock on February 18, 2008 at 8:28PM EST
I had a registered sex offender come up to my house, rang the doorbell, and said he was looking for his cat.  He had a woman with him, but I was bothered with this.  I have two small children.   Ca they do this?  Should I be concerened?

That is extremely deceitful. Yes I would be worried and would let the police know.
That is a line kids fall for, they think of the animal not the person.

I wouldn't let the fact that he had a woman with him bring me peace of mind. It probably was an innocent thing, but you can't be too careful when it comes to your children. Why don't you call the local police or sheriff's department and ask them if he's allowed to approach your house for any reason. Also, since you are aware that he is registered, I would assume you've seen his picture on the registry. I also had one in my neighborhood recently and printed out his picture for all of the kids in the neighborhood just so they would be aware that this was someone to avoid.
