Though I am extremely thankful to be a stay at home mom (thanks to my husband for allowing this opportunity), and would not want it any other way, my greatest complaint is all of the sibling rivalry I have to referee between the hours of after school and bedtime. It sometimes starts as early as breakfast when one child accidentally on purpose runs into the other on the way to the kitchen to eat.

My boys are 7 (2nd grade) and 10 (5th grade). They are very active and actually very kind hearted, each in their own way. The older one antagonizes the younger one constantly. I try my best to arrange different activities or play dates to keep them separate but this doesn’t always work. I send them to their rooms but I not sure this solves the problem. I am told this is perfectly normal but it is pushing me over the edge. Maybe if my 40-something hormones weren’t in overdrive I could handle it better. Does anyone have any suggestions for quieting the house in reference to sibling rivalry?

With the days of June Cleaver far behind us, staying at home isn’t the norm these days, but many parents wish they could. But it’s also tough to make the transition from a fast-paced business career to the slower, but possibly more rewarding, pace of parenting. We’d love to hear from stay-at-home moms (or Dads) who have made this transition.
