Myself, (retired Quality Engineer) and two Medical Doctors conducted a 5 1/2 yr study when I noticed my grandson developing physical finger deformities.
Our study revealed children develop arthritic joints, and bent and twisted fingers, and other skeletal damage from toddlers with heavy toys and coloring, video gaming and using computers during the ages when their bones are too soft (un-calcified) and readily yield to the dynamic forces generated in those processes. The forces exceed the Material Creep force tolerance threshold.
Our study also revealed adults also experience skeletal and physical skeletal injuries from driving high effort steering vehicles like the Impala.
Go to our web site www.miketomich.com and see the pictures and descriptions of the damages.
Senator Joe Lieberman is going to include our results in his Senate bill S.948...expected to pass this year.
Contact me here or at our web site with any questions.
For our children.... Mike

After the school year ended this spring I was incredibly stressed out. I had my first AP exam to study for as well as 5 other exams. It was one of the hardest terms I had ever had. By the end of the year I was in desperate need of a break. The next couple of weeks were absolutely amazing. Just to be able to do what ever I wanted when I wanted to was incredibly relaxing. Many teens take that time of for granted and try to fill it with as many events as possibly. I was actually able to travel on three different trips back to back with out even sleeping in my own bed. My parents thought this might stress me out or tire me, but actually it was so fun just to have nothing to do. All i needed was to pack my suitcase and go! These trips weren't all planed and the spontaneity was exciting. It was one of the best summers i have ever had.
As school quickly approaches and my summer reading waits on my bedside table I have begun to get stressed again thinking about the upcomming year. I think that highschool is so stressful as it is and school work can really pile u, but Summer is an excellent way to relax and get away from it all. Teens should try to make their weekends open and relaxing as well.it may be hard with sports and extracurriculars , but try not to fill your weekends with too many activities, just float and keep your time open. It makes it more enjoyable to be able to do what you want when you want. This Summer has been a great rejuvenator and has prepared me to take on yet another year of school.

I have a month left of summer, and I can’t stand the thought of going back to school. The thought of having homework every night, studying for tests and quizzes, staying up late to finish a paper or project makes me sick. The day I get back to school, I have tests over the four summer reading books that are suppose to be completed when I return. I’ve only finished one, so I have a long way to go. Also, the pressure of having to do extremely well this year is overwhelming. I’m going to be a junior, and this is my most important year. I have to maintain a good GPA and do well on my SATs in order to get into a college of my choice. I’m starting to get so much pressure from my parents and my school about colleges. Even though all of this will be going on, it will be nice to see everyone again. I’m so excited to be cheerleading on Friday nights for the Varsity football games. This will help some of the school year go by fast. Hopefully, I will make it through the year and have a memorable one. Wish me luck!

Is it true that a home schooled child can plug into a few public school classes w out attending as a full time student?

My son will be starting 6th grade next year and I think it's going to be great. At orientation they told us it is really a time when the students start to become more independent -- standing up for themselves, being totally responsible for their homework and papers, they can stay after school and hang out a little with friends (vs. needing to be picked up exactly at carpool time.) One question: my son is currently not signed up for any of the middle school sports teams, and I think that's a great way to stay connected to school and friends. They have A and B teams, so it's not a lot of pressure. I'd like to require him to join at least one team this year. Any thoughts on making this a requirement? In fact, I'd like him to engage in one "exercise" activity at least twice a week... thoughts?
