Celebs in the News
Posted by: BethJ007 on July 25, 2007 at 11:50AM EST

Anyone in the English speaking world knows now that Lindsay Lohan got arrested again for DUI and drug possession. And why does everyone know this? Because every news station from E!News to CNN has opted to give up-to-the-minute coverage of "celebutantes'" latest arrests and meltdowns instead of world news. But I am happy to see that lately there have been some news anchors that have flat out refused to cover the celebrity gossip. One anchor on CNN recently asked that the Lohan arrest story be taken off his teleprompter, and another MSNBC anchor tried to jokingly set fire to the latest updates of Paris Hilton's stint in jail. I admire this, because the attention the media gives to girls like this has gotten so out of hand.

My solution is to just throw them all in jail. Hehe.

I don't keep up with all the celebrity gossip. It is true how Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton were all over the news. It seems like celebrities lives are under a microscope and if they mess up everybody will know within hours. It's sad our society has turned into this.

Celebrities have a hard life. They are always being watched, and everyone follows them. They have no privacy. I don't really care about what they do with their lives, and I don't think of them as icons, but I do feel bad for them. I can't believe they are being talked about on the news. I think it is good that anchors are refusing run their stories on the air.

With so many more pressing and concerning issues to discuss - how and why these ghetto rich continue to be news-worthy is beyond my scope of imagination. Our children in America need strong images - uplifting images. We are disgraced with celebraty ghettos - and to add one more gripe - the pharmacudical commericals and hover rounds ! Geeze - Talk about the eagles been flying low.

I agree this is so silly. I think its cool that anchors are refusing to talk about them. I refuse to care honestly I don't talk about all that gossip rumor stuff with celebs i just try to live my own life instead of passing more judgement and approval on others'.

I feel bad for celebrities because like Jax, said, their lives really are under a microscope. However, I honestly don't really care what they do with their life and don't read all those teen magazines. I have other people in my life that I look up to, and there are much more important things to do in life than to sit around gossiping about people and the decisions they decide to make in their life.

It would be so hard to be a celebrity. Normal, everyday people get arrested for DUI and drug possession daily and they aren't in the news. However, when a celeb messes up pictures are up instantaneoulsy. There are moments when I want to be famous and live in the spotlight, but when I start thinking about it, I wouldn't want to live my life under a microscope and constantly think about what I have to wear or look like, who I can date, what I can say, ect. We have it easy compared to them. The general public holds them to a higher standard because they are teenage icons, and truthfully, I think that they should meet that higher standard. However, it's a lot of pressure for one person to withstand, and everyone is going to break down at some point.
