Pirates and Johnny Depp
Posted by: Jax on May 22, 2007 at 9:52AM EST

I know I'm really excited about Pirates of the Caribbean 3 and have been talking to many of my friends who cannot wait for it to come out!  Along with Spider Man 3 and Harry Potter, this is going to be one of the biggest movies of the summer.  I think the obsession with Pirates started because of Johnny Depp, but after he got people to the theaters, everyone realized how good of a movie it was.  The first one was so good that it hooked people into seeing the 2nd and now the 3rd.  Even though I thought that the first movie was better than the second movie, I can't wait for the third!  The plot is set up and I've watched the trailers to realize how exciting it is going to be.

My brother even said, "I don't know why everyone is obsessed with Johnny Depp."  I don't know either, but all I know is that the casting crew picked an all star cast that draws teens to the theater--Johnny Depp, Keira Knightley , and Orlando Bloom.

I love Johnny Depp, and I think he is one of the most versatile actors out there today. I think that part of his charm is the fact that he is a very private person who hasn't been caught up in all of that Hollywood madness actors usually find themselves in.

Anyway I am looking forward to seeing Pirates 3 tonight, despite the bad reviews the movie critics have been giving. I mean... what do they know! ;-))

I saw Spider Man 3 and would say that it's a little scarry. I jumped like 3 times. I guess it just depends on how mature your 10-year old is. Venom is mean and during this part it portrays Spider Man as being a mean character. I think that all of the Pirates movies are entertaining. You might want to watch the videos first and then decide if you think that they're appropriate for your son, or watch them with him and you can always turn them off. They don't have sexual behavior in them, it's just a lot of battle fighting (in ships).

I have not seen any of these movies but have heard a lot about them. Do you think the movies are appropriate for my 10 going on 11-year old son? I think they are rated PG-13 so I have not let him see them.

I love Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom, tho.
I saw Spidey 3 last night though, and was disappointed by all the animation (versus human stunts) and the pace was kinda slow, tho I can't say why. Love the cast, though. Was Spiderman really that nerdy as Peter Parker? I like geeks, but nerds? Do you think there's a difference?

I think it's kind of funny that I find Johnny Depp more attractive when he has his pirate makeup and dreadlocks then when he is just in his normal state...
