Teens Need More Sleep
Posted by: Chandler DeWitt on June 6, 2007 at 9:24AM EST
Teens lives are so stressful today. We are expected to do our best and perform at a very fast pace. My friends on average maybe get six hours of sleep a night. A teenager needs on average at least eight hours of sleep a night. The pressure on teens today does not allow us to get enough sleep, which will cause us to not perform at our highest level. Sleep is very important and not getting enough can be detrimental to our health. Teens do stay up late and go to parties during the summer and on weekends, but we do not go out every night, so we should have a chance to catch up on our sleep. The pressure on teens is to high. If teens do not get more sleep, they cannot perform at their highest level.

I 100% agree with this blog. THere is nothing better for the body than sleep. In today's society, the norm for sleep is about 5-6 hours a night and what is healthy for the body is 7-8. It has become a huge problem today, and whether you have to sacrifice work or homework, it is so much more important to sleep and be well rested than to hurt your body.

Sleep is SO important and it is normally overlooked. I haven't pulled an all nighter yet, but I've pulled two 2-hour nighters. My all nighters have been the consequence of leaving the majority of my studying for the night before a test. When studying for my Anthropology final, my study group went into Butrick at 6pm and came out at 7am!! It is really had to get 8-9 hours of sleep each night. To do this, you either have to sacrifice your homework time or your time talking with friends. You think it gets easier to get more sleep when you to to college because you have more time in your day, but it actually gets harder! You took naps when you were 2 years old, and when you go to college you learn to love naps again! I remember not wanting to take a nap during nap time during kindergarden, but now I LOVE my naps and have to schedule it in my day.

i agree, but what are the alternative solutions? Our parents had to do the same thing when they were are age. What else can you come up withto solve this. School starting later...then it would go later. Less practices...then we wouldn't be as fit or successful at our sports. Less homework....actually that would be nice!
