Locker Boxing Game Can Lead to Serious Head Injuries
There’s a dangerous fighting game going on in many middle school and high school locker rooms. It's a game that takes place in secret, and sometimes goes beyond horseplay, leading to serious injuries.

All you concerned parents need to quit jumping at conclusions and read my comments. I am going to tell you some things you don't want to hear but you better take heed because some of you are going to continue losing the battle of connecting with your children.
Boxing is not as bad as you think. There is risk in everything these kids do form scateboarding to drag racing. We are constantly on them to not do this or not do that.
Boxing has been around since the 50's. Parents screamed when the kids had pillow fights because they were destroying their rooms. Then the kids wrestled in the yard and parents got mad because they tore their clothes or scratched their knee. Then the kids fought at school and expulsion came around. Kids use to slap box to build confidence and make their identity. That is why they do it. They want to know where they stand in their own level of government. A governent that we as adults will never understand. We put together programs to prevent the slap boxing in school. These programs called the YMCA, PAL,BOYS CLUB were perfect for the control of these young adults trying to identify themselves in society. Then the government dropped these programs and quit funding them. They took away the gym and the recess and expect our children to just go along with the program.
Kids have been making the mark for years and it is never going to stop.

Either we start funding these programs again or be glad that they are venting in the locker room with head gear. Because it sure beats being on the street and venting with guns and knives.
Oh yeah, about the kids who get hurt with this fighting. I can't say enough about the how the character and confidnece they build far outway the scratches and bruises and broken arms.
