Online Dangers Part I: Posting Personal Info
Despite the warnings about Internet predators, teenagers continue to post personal details about their life online - even their phone number and address. How can you make sure your kids remain anonymous... and safe... on the Web?

I will admit that I once had a myspace and I currently have a facebook. However, I am very careful about the information that I post and who sees my facebook. On facebook I do not talk to anybody that I don't know. I understand the dangers that I could face for posting personal information. My only advice is if you currently have a myspace or a facebook do not give away information or meet up with people that you met through these databases...Not everybody is as nice or as honest as you. Be careful!

I have a Facebook and I am very careful about the information I put on my page and the things I say about people. I know that there are risks and that almost anyone can see my profile. I do not talk to anyone that I do ot know. I would make sure that my kid was being safe and not putting up any information that would jeopardize their safety.

i have a facebook as well. My mom knows i have one and she watches me write on it sometimes, but i have a computer in my room. I think that having a computer in your room is a privaledge that you should earn. If you show your parents that you are responsible and you are not giving out any inappropriate informationthen you should be allowed to keep your computer in a personal space if your the only one who is really using it because it really helps with homework and research.

I am always shocked by the teens and kids who say that their parents do not want them to have an online community profile, but make one anyway. I think that it would be safer for their children if the parents knew that they had an online profile and periodically took a look at it to make sure that no personal information was posted and all of the wall posts were appropriate.

I am extremely careful about what I put about myself online. I just have a facebook page now which is a little more private then myspace, but I am still cautious about putting too much detail about myself.
