We almost had a snow day today-- something the kids have been wishing and wishing for the last couple of years.  Seems like when I was growing up we usually would get at least one a winter, but not the past couple of years.  The snow started last night-- the weather people predicted we would not have any accumulation.  About an inch later, the kids were sure they would be staying home today.  Then it got one degree warmer and started raining!  Total bummer.

I had the kids for dinner last night, but they are spending this week with their father.  I have to admit, if they were going to be out of school, I'm glad they were at his house.  Snow days for kids don't always equal snow days for adults.  He has a flexible schedule, and it's easy for him to stay home and make calls.  I know the odd bad weather days, and random school workdays that get thrown in can really play havoc with working parents. But as a kid--- is there anything better than missing school-- especially for snow in the South??
