We Are The Champions
Posted by: Lily on November 9, 2007 at 11:04AM EST

Well, my 8 year old's football season has ended and they won the championship game!  I have to confess, it was a fun season in the end!  All along though I was thinking (and complaining)..."why do 8 year olds have to practice two nights a week AND have a game one night a week?"  It seemed a little intense, but he really enjoyed it.

Before the final game we made noisemakers and banners and even stood out on the field like cheerleaders as the boys ran through our human tunnel.  It really was fun and the boys had a great time.  I thought I'd let him play football for one season and he'd get it out of his system and return to a more sensible sport like soccer.  Don't think that'll happen anytime soon!

My eleven year old son won the championship for his baseball team this season. During the season I did my fair share of complaining about all of the practices and games. When the final game was over and they had won the championship, the smile on my son's face erased every negative thought I may have entertained during the season!
