Connect with Kids Resources Aligned to the New Federal Stimulus Package
The new American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 provides a $13 billion stimulus package to schools nationwide to support Title I efforts to improve the academic achievement of the disadvantaged.
At Connect with Kids, we understand your challenge to maximize those resources to really reach students and families with programming that influences positive change. Connect with Kids’ inclusion in the U.S. Department of Education’s What Works Clearinghouse and findings from Harvard researchers at the Center on Media and Child Health – plus responses from students, teachers and parents across the country – confirm that Connect with Kids programming gets results.

Our programming, based upon the key elements for success and promising school-based practices, provides Title I schools with professional development and video and print resources to support educators, parents and students.

Connect with Kids Resources for the Classroom The Power of Expectations Character and Life Skills Collection, available in English and Spanish, provides eight research-based, peer-to-peer videos with accompanying curricula. Each video profiles real kids telling real stories of lives improved, incorporating positive character traits at home and at school. The videos include the 26 nationally-recognized character words for implementation at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Program extensions can include dynamic student assemblies and workshops.

The Power of Parents Video Series includes three DVDs with accompanying discussion questions and fact sheets for parent workshops and meetings. Programs include Against All Odds (building resilience in children), Disconnect: Why Kids Skip School (improving connections to keep kids motivated and in school), and After the Bell (the importance of afterschool programs).
